20世纪百大英文小说，1998年7月，美国纽约公共图书馆选编的《世纪之书》以及蓝灯书屋的《当代文库》编辑小组选出了本世纪一百大英文小说（The Hundred English Novels of The 20st Century）。其中以乔伊斯（James Joyce）《尤里西斯》（Ulysses）位居第一名，并且盛赞此书为“当代小说中的毕加索”。《尤里西斯》于1922年出版，曾因晦涩、色情被英、美等国视为禁书，甚至当众焚毁；今日全世界有近三百种译本，是意识流小说的代表作。英国航海作家康拉德（Joseph Conrad）一人入选了四本，是最大的赢家。
